FED: The sooner the better for Telstra sale: Hockey

Human Services Minister JOE HOCKEY says the sooner the federal government rids itself
of its stake in Telstra .. the better.

But he's told the Seven Network the government won't sell its remaining 51.8 per cent
stake in the telco until the price is right.

Mr HOCKEY says the sale is a no-win situation for the government.

Prime Minister JOHN HOWARD has refused to give any details of progress in the government's
decision on whether to proceed with the full sale of Telstra.

Opposition spokesman KEVIN RUDD .. who appeared with Mr HOCKEY on the Seven Network
.. says the government should keep Telstra .. and fix it.
