Vic: Wait ends for anxious VCE students

There's been a drop in the number of Victorian students completing high school this
year .. and those who did .. didn't do as well as last year.

Forty-five-thousand students have access to their Equivalent National Tertiary Entrance
Rank ..or ENTER .. from seven o'clock this morning (AEDT).

That's 787 fewer girls .. and 635 fewer boys .. receiving an ENTER this year .. but
organisers say it reflects a smaller Year 12 cohort.

ELAINE WENN .. director of the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre .. says the average
ENTER for girls this year is 64.06 .. compared to 64.94 last year .. while boys averaged
61.42 this year .. compared to 62.00 in 2006.

But .. 32 students did achieve an ENTER of 99.95.

Thousands of VCE students are expected to access their results today via the internet
.. telephone .. or SMS .. while statements will start being delivered by mail tomorrow.
