FED: Greens welcome Saddam Hussein's arrest

The Australian Greens say a spectre of fear and cruelty has been lifted with the capture
of former Iraqi dictator SADDAM HUSSEIN.

Greens Leader Senator BOB BROWN says the former dictator should now be dealt with by
the International Criminal Court so that all the hard questions can be asked.

He says that would open up for scrutiny not only SADDAM'S appalling record of death
and torture, but also all those who gave him political and technical support.

He says Iraqi courts will be limited and guided by the occupation of the US-led coalition.

Senator BROWN says he'd oppose the death penalty for SADDAM.
